On Friday 25 June 2021, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Government House to Newcastle, New South Wales.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Nuatali Nelmes, Lord Mayor, officially re-opened Newcastle City Hall.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Sophia Hamblin Wang, Chief Operating Officer, visited the Mineral Carbonation International Pilot Plant.

Then, the Governor General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Professor Alex Zelinsky AO, Vice-Chancellor and President, University of Newcastle, attended a graduation ceremony for the University of Newcastle’s College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Newcastle, New South Wales to Government House.
