On Wednesday 28 July 2021, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley received a phone call from staff and students of Mundingburra State School, Townsville, including: Mrs Sue Royle, Principal; Mr Charlie Doyle and Ms Akira Miller, School Captains; and Ms Emily Cruikshank and Mr Koby Fraser, School Vice-Captains.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Mrs Miranda Mears, Chief Operating Officer, and members of Smart Precinct NQ, via video conference.

Later, the Governor General and Mrs Hurley met with Councillor Jenny Hill, Mayor, City of Townsville, via video conference.
