On Thursday 5 August 2021, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, as guest of Ms Jill Sheppard, Manager, and Ms Kerrie Gray, Secretary, attended an Alchemy Chorus rehearsal at the Hughes Community Centre.

Later, the Governor-General hosted a morning tea for representatives of the Indonesian Embassy and members of the Australian Defence Force Academy third-year Indonesian class.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Councillor Frank Carbone, Mayor, and Mr Alan Young PSM, City Manager, Fairfield City Council (NSW), via video conference.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a phone call from Imam Shadi Alsuleiman, President, Australian National Imams Council.

Later, the Governor-General received Mr Miles Armitage, Head of Mission Designate for Turkey.

In the evening, the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Mrs Hurley hosted an Investiture Ceremony for Ms Frances Adamson AC, Former Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, followed by a farewell dinner in her honour.
