On Saturday 5 March 2022, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Brisbane, Queensland.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley as guests of Commissioner Greg Leach, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, met with staff and received a briefing on the flood recovery at the Queensland State Disaster Co-ordination Centre.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Brigadier Mark Armstrong, Commander JTG 629.3, met with Australian Defence Force personnel assisting with the flood recovery and clean-up operations.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley as guests of Mr Andrew Young, Chief Executive Officer, met with staff and inspected flood damage at the Brisbane Markets.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended dinner with Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young PSM, Governor of Queensland, and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD, at Government House Queensland.
