On Friday 11 March 2022, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Earlier, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Sydney, New South Wales, to Lismore, New South Wales.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Steve Krieg, Mayor, Lismore City Council, were briefed on the impact of flood relief and recovery operations at the Council Chambers and met with staff at the Operations Emergency Centre.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with small business owners and community members, and inspected flood damage.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Mr Shane Phillips and Ms Naomi Moran, General Manager, Koori Mail, and spoke with community members affected by the floods.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Mr Nick Lane, Owner, Metropole Hotel, and other community members affected by the floods.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Mr Huw Jones, Director, Simply Clean, and inspected flood damage.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Mike Carmody, Public Information Officer, Disaster Relief Australia, met with veterans and community members assisting with flood recovery and clean-up.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with volunteers from the Coraki Country Women’s Association, and inspected flood damage.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received a phone call from Mr Brad Rickard, Owner, Bank Café.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Coraki, New South Wales, to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
