On Monday 27 June 2022, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), as Patron, and Mrs Linda Hurley hosted a morning tea for Project Independence.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a telephone call from His Majesty King Tupou VI, King of the Kingdom of Tonga.

Later, the Governor-General, accompanied by Mrs Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Mr Kakhramon Shakirov as the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted an afternoon tea to launch the book 'Australia Remembers 5: Cameron Baird – Dedicated, Courageous and Born to Lead'.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Professor Chennupati Jagadish AC, President, Australian Academy of Science, attended a reception and officially re-opened the restored 'Shine Dome'.
