On Wednesday 7 September 2022, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley received Ms Gwen Cherne, Commissioner for Veteran Family Advocacy, Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and Mr Rob Swanwick, Veterans’ & Families Adviser, Veteran Family Advocate Commissioner’s Office.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received Superintendent Simon Dwight, Security Controller APH, Official & Protection Establishments ACT, Australian Federal Police, and Protective Services Sergeant Richard Toohey, Officer-in-Charge at Government House, Australian Federal Police.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as joint Patrons, hosted a lunch for families of The Shepherd Centre.
Afterwards, the Governor-General recorded a video message for the National Federation of Australia-Japan Societies.
Later, the Governor-General met with students of Crusoe College, Kangaroo Flat, Victoria.
Then, the Governor-General, as Patron-in-Chief, and Mrs Hurley hosted a ceremony at which athletes and support staff of the Australian 2022 Commonwealth Games Team were presented with the Australian Sports Medal.
