Channelling the intense grief from the loss of her baby Lucky Kwong is what drives chef Kylie Kwong AM, building the highly successful eatery of the same name.
“My eatery aims to be a ‘Force for Good’ in honour of Lucky’s magical spirit,” she says. “Over the last ten years since losing Lucky, my wife Nell and I have been energised by the rich friendships and connections we have with so many great people in this life.”
“Community, collaboration and connecting with people through food is what motivates me. When we lean into community, the focus on ‘I’ and ‘me’ shifts to ‘us’ and ‘we’. Within this space, we experience the very best of humanity.”
Completely flabbergasted by her nomination for recognition in the Order of Australia, Ms Kwong acknowledges her wife Nell, mother Pauline, and her Angel baby, Lucky Kwong.
“Without their unconditional love, continual support and spiritual guidance I could not do what I do.”
