On Friday 31 March 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Ms Margaret Atkin, President, Rotary Club of Canberra Sunrise, planted the first trees as part of the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Tree Planting Program.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Sydney, New South Wales.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Ms Shelley Reys AO, Chair, Council of the Order of Australia.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Commodore Peter Scott CSC RAN (Retd) attended the book launch of his memoir ‘Running Deep. An Australian Submarine Life’.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Richard Goyder AO, Chairperson, Qantas Airways, attended the Qantas Gala Dinner.
