On Monday 3 April 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley departed Canberra, Australian Capital Territory for Hanoi, Vietnam.

Following the departure of the Governor-General from Australia to Vietnam, the proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, was signed by Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC CVO, Governor of Victoria.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of His Excellency Mr Andrew Goledzinowski, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, attended a welcome reception with long-term Australian expatriates.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended dinner at the Le Beaulieu Restaurant at the Hotel Metropole, Hanoi.
