Hanoi, Vietnam; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

On Wednesday 5 April 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley departed Hanoi and travelled to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Sarah Hooper, Australian Consul-General, hosted a medal presentation for long-serving staff of the Consulate General of Australia in Ho Chi Minh City.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended a barbeque lunch with staff and alumni of Australian education providers at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) South Saigon Campus.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of His Excellency Mr Andrew Goledzinowski, attended an afternoon tea with Australian diaspora in Vietnam.

Afterwards, the Governor-General attended a meeting with His Excellency Mr Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.

Then, Mrs Hurley as guest of the Director of the Reunification Palace, visited the Palace Museum.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of  His Excellency Mr Nguyen Van Nen, attended a tour of the Independence Palace.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of His Excellency Mr Nguyen Van Nen, attended an Official Dinner.
