On Tuesday 2 May 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Syntagma Square, Athens.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley were welcomed at the Presidential Palace by Her Excellency Katerina Sakellaropoulou, President of the Hellenic Republic.
Then, the Governor-General met with President Sakellaropoulou, whilst Mrs Hurley met with Mr Pavlos Kotsonis, partner of the President of the Hellenic Republic.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with President Sakellaropoulou and Mr Pavlos Kotsonis.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of President Sakellaropoulou, attended a State Lunch.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Professor Nikolaos Stampolidis, Director-General, visited the Acropolis Museum of Athens.
Afterwards, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Dr Lita Tzortzopoulou-Gregory, Acting Director of the Australian Archaeological Institute of Athens, visited the Acropolis of Athens.
In the evening, the Governor-General attended a meeting with Dr George Katrougalos, Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister.
