On Wednesday 7 June 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Brisbane, Queensland, to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.

Afterwards, the Governor-General recorded a congratulatory video message for Lance 'Buddy' Franklin, Player, Sydney Swans.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a reception for Thank A First Responder Day.
