On Thursday 8 June 2023, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with students from Cranbrook Junior School, Bellevue Hill, New South Wales, as they visited Government House.

Then, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, hosted a lunch for Heads of Mission of Pacific nations. Guests included Mr Curtis Tuihalangingie, Deputy Head of Mission, and Mr Tasmani Telefoni, Third Secretary, High Commission of Tonga; Ms Anna Main, Deputy High Commissioner and Mr Reupena Matauiau, First Secretary, High Commission of Samoa; Mr Eamon O’Shaughnessy, Deputy High Commissioner, and Mr Rob Laurs, First Secretary, New Zealand High Commission; Mr Patrice Kuautonga, Country Liaison Officer, High Commission of Vanuatu; Mr Trevor Ramoni, Deputy High Commissioner for the Solomon Islands; Her Excellency Ms Inês De Almeida, Ambassador, and Ms Dulce Freitas, Third Secretary, Embassy of Timor-Leste; Ms Julie Le Saos, Deputy Head of Mission, and Mrs Léa Müller-Dardelin, Counsellor, Embassy of France; Her Excellency Mrs Camilla Solomon, High Commissioner for Nauru; Ms Kirsty McNeil, Assistant Secretary, Polynesia and Partnerships Branch, and Mr Matthew Holcombe, Protocol Officer, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; and Mr Jeff Barnes, Deputy Official Secretary to the Governor-General.

Later, the Governor-General met with students from Samuel Gilbert Public School, Castle Hill, New South Wales, as they visited Government House.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Alex Budd, Director, Canberra Theatre Centre, attended the opening night of Come From Away.
