Apia, Samoa; Rarotonga, Cook Islands
On Tuesday 27 June 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Apia, Samoa, to Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley were met by Her Excellency Ms Phoebe Smith, Australian High Commissioner to the Cook Islands, and His Excellency Sir Tom Marsters KBE, King’s Representative to the Cook Islands.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Police Commissioner James Keenan, Cook Islands Police, visited the Guardian Class patrol boat Te Kukupa II, and met with members of the Cook Islands Police Force Maritime Wing.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Her Excellency Ms Phoebe Smith, attended a lunch at the Australian High Commission.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with representatives of the Cook Islands Government, including the Honourable Mr Mark Brown, Prime Minister; Ms Tepaeru Herrmann, Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration; Ms McKenzie Kareao, Visit Liaison Officer, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration; and Mr Ben Ponia, Chief of Staff, Office of the Prime Minister.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Reverend Tere Marsters, attended a concert and blessing at the Takamoa Theological College.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of His Excellency Sir Tom Marsters and Lady Tuaine Marsters, attended a dinner.
