On Friday 3 November 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley received a phone call from Mr Peter Scott, Director, Northern and Central Europe, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended the State Funeral Service for the Honourable Bill Hayden AC.  

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Ipswich, Queensland, to Sydney, New South Wales.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received Her Excellency Ms Katalin Novak, President of the Republic of Hungary.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as Joint Patrons, hosted a reception for the Children’s Cancer Institute, where they presented the Benefactors’ Awards.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Sydney, New South Wales, to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
