Honiara, Solomon Islands

On Monday 20 November 2023, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) met with the Honourable Manasseh Sogavare MP, Prime Minister of Solomon Islands.  

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with the Honourable John Patteson Oti, Acting Governor-General of Solomon Islands.

Then, Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, visited the Holy Cross Cathedral and met with the Holy Cross youth choir.

Later, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley attended the official opening of the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service office building.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Rebecca Lane, acting First Secretary, Australian High Commission to Solomon Islands, attended the Oceania Games para athletes table tennis championship.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended a lunch with His Excellency Mr Rod Hilton, Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands; and senior staff. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General, as Chief in Patron of the Australian Olympic Committee, and Mrs Hurley met with Australian athletes and team staff participating in the 2023 Pacific Games.

Later, the Governor-General, as guests of His Excellency Mr Hilton, attended a reception with Friends of Australia.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of the Honourable Mr Sogavare, attended a reception with VIP attendees of the 2023 Pacific Games.
