On Wednesday 24 January 2024, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), as guest of Mr Shane Phillips, Chief Executive Officer, attended a Tribal Warrior boxing session at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley attended the GG’s XI cricket match between Australia v South Africa.   

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Sydney, New South Wales, to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.  

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a reception for the state and territory finalists of the 2024 Australian of the Year Awards.
