On Wednesday 3 April 2024, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Ipswich, Queensland.
On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr John Dornbusch, Chancellor, and Professor Geraldine Mackenzie, Vice-Chancellor, attended a sod-turning Ceremony for the Allied Health Building at the University of Southern Queensland’s Ipswich Campus.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Dornbusch and Professor Mackenzie, met with allied health staff and students at The University of Southern Queensland’s Ipswich Campus.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Ipswich to Brisbane, Queensland.
Later, the Governor-General, and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Glenn Keys AO, Founder, presented the Australian Operational Service Medal - Civilian to staff of Aspen Medical involved in the evacuation of Kabul.
