On Thursday 11 April 2024, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.  

Then, the Governor-General met with students and teachers from Saint Mary’s College, Hobart, Tasmania, as they undertook a school tour of Government House.

Later, the Governor-General as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, hosted an Investiture Ceremony for Order of Australia Honours, Conspicuous Service Decorations and Meritorious Service Awards.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a phone call from Vice Admiral David Johnston AC RAN, Vice Chief of the Defence Force.

In the Afternoon, the Governor-General as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Mrs Hurley, hosted an Investiture Ceremony for Order of Australia Honours, Conspicuous Service Decorations and Meritorious Service Awards.
