Governor-General welcomes upcoming Royal Visit

The Governor-General has welcomed the official announcement of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla visit to Australia.

 

“I was fortunate to spend time with His Majesty in May. His Majesty The King has a well-known deep affection for and connection to the people of Australia and he was very much looking forward to his first visit to Australia since becoming King,” the Governor-General said.

 

“I look forward to welcoming Their Majesties to Australia and, during the visit, showcasing the very best of our modern and diverse nation.”

 

Planning for the Royal Visit is underway and more information will be made available by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Official Australian portraits of The King and Queen have now been released and can be downloaded from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet website.

In the official portraits, The King wears The Sovereign’s Badge of the Order of Australia, while The Queen wears the Wattle Brooch which was gifted to Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Australia in 1954.

Australians can request printed versions of the portraits through their Federal Member of the House of Representatives or Senator in their state or territory.

Conditions of use

The official Australian portraits of His Majesty King Charles III and Queen Camilla have been provided to the Australian Government by Buckingham Palace.

The portraits can be downloaded for free and are available for private use by individuals. The portraits are also available to the media. The portraits cannot be used for commercial purposes and cannot be used in merchandising, advertising or for other non-editorial purposes.
