On Thursday 22 August 2024, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC gave Royal Assent to legislation.

Then, the Governor-General received Mr Ridwaan Jadwat, Australian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General recorded video messages for the Women in Cyber Canberra Conference, Legacy Week, AFLW Round 1, and the Anglicare National Conference. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General met with students and teachers from Pacific Lutheran College, Birtinya, Queensland, as they undertook a tour of Government House. 

Then, the Governor-General received Professor Sabina Alkire, Oxford University Professor of Poverty and Human Development, and representatives of the Brotherhood of St Lawrence including Mr Travers McLeod, Chief Executive Officer; Ms Zeah Behrend, Chief Strategy and Impact Officer; Ms Nicole Bieske, Director Social Policy and Research Centre; and Ms Chris Black, Head of Communications. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Sydney, New South Wales.
