On Wednesday, 16 October 2024, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC received a phone call from Mr Aftab Malik.

Then, the Governor-General travelled from Sydney, New South Wales to Brisbane, Queensland.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General, as guest of Mr Carlo Carli, Chair, Federation of Ethnic Communities Council of Australia; and Mr Elijah Buol OAM, Chair, Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland, met with board members and community representatives, and visited exhibition booths at the 2024 Federation of Ethnic Communities Council of Australia Conference.

Then, the Governor-General attended an interview with Nicola McCaskill, Senior Editor, Special Broadcasting Service at the 2024 Federation of Ethnic Communities Council of Australia Conference.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as guest of Mr Carlo Carli, Chairperson, Federation of Ethnic Communities Council of Australia; and Mr Elijah Buol OAM, Chairperson, Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland, attended the 2024 Federation of Ethnic Communities Council of Australia's Gala Dinner.
