On Thursday 24 October 2024, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC hosted members of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet for the decommissioning of the Great Seal of Australia.

Then, the Governor-General presided over Federal Executive Council. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General gave Royal Assent to Legislation. 

Later, the Governor-General met with students and teachers from Glen William School, Bobs Farm Public School, Millers Forest Public School and Mount Kanwary Public School, New South Wales, as they undertook a tour of Government House.

Then, the Governor-General, as guest of Dr Nick Mitzevich, Director, attended the official opening of ‘Ouroboros’ by Ms Lindy Lee AO at the National Gallery of Australia. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General received Lieutenant-General Michelle McGuinness CSC, Australian National Cyber Coordinator and Mr Peter Anstee, First Assistant Secretary, Cyber and Technology Security, Technology Division, Department of Home Affairs.

Then, the Governor-General hosted an afternoon tea, followed by the Quad Cyber Challenge. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Ms Bernadette Black AM, Chief Executive Officer, Seed Futures.
