On Monday 28 October 2024, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC hosted a ceremony and reception for Deepavali.  

Then, the Governor-General, as guests of Ms Jo White, Director, Questacon, attended a practice session for the Governor-General's Design Challenge.  

In the afternoon, the Governor-General met with students and teachers from Toowoomba Anglican School, Toowoomba, Queensland, as they undertook a tour of Government House. 

Then, the Governor-General received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Dr Mohamed Yahya Teiss as the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Bettah Limam, Counsellor, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General received His Excellency Mr Gopal Baglay, High Commissioner for India.  

In the evening the Governor-General hosted a dinner for the Rhodes Scholarships Australia 2025 candidates.
