Governor-General to attend Anzac Day commemorative events in Gallipoli
The Governor-General and Mr Beckett SC will represent Australians at the 110th anniversary of the Anzac landing at Gallipoli Cove.
The Governor-General and Mr Beckett will also visit Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
“As Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force, the daughter of a veteran and a proud Australian, it will be a privilege to commemorate my first Anzac Day as Australia’s Governor-General at the 110th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli.
“I am also looking forward to further strengthening Australia’s bilateral relationships with Türkiye, Egypt and the UAE during my visit – celebrating the links between our nations, the important anniversaries of Australia’s relationships with Egypt and the UAE, and our shared opportunities for the future.”
In Türkiye, the Governor-General and Mr Beckett will attend commemorative events, including the Anzac Dawn Service, the Australian Memorial Service, Turkish International Service, French Memorial Service, and the Commonwealth and Irish Memorial Service.
In Egypt, the Governor-General and Mr Beckett will celebrate the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations between our nations.
In the UAE, the Governor-General and Mr Beckett will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our nations.
Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC, Governor of New South Wales, will serve as Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia during the period of the visit.
