On Saturday 28 September 2019, Their Excellencies, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, travelled to Melbourne, Victoria.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Richard Goyder AO, Chairman, AFL Commission, attended the 2019 AFL Grand Final Luncheon.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Goyder, attended the 2019 AFL Grand Final match between the Richmond Tigers and Greater Western Sydney Giants.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley returned to Government House, Canberra.
