On Tuesday 1 October 2019, at Government House, Canberra, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) received the Honourable Mitchell Fifield, Ambassador-Designate to the United Nations, for a pre-posting call.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Dr Michael Archinal, Director, Canberra Veterinary Hospital, and Mrs Jodie Archinal.

Later, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley received Ms Rhonda Vanzella OAM, President, War Widows Guild of Australia (NSW Branch); Mrs Renee Wilson, Member, Council for Women and Families United by Defence Service; and Ms Gwen Cherne, Board Member, Australian War Memorial.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Dr Garth Pratten, Acting Head, Defence Studies Centre, attended the book launch of ‘National Versus Human Security: Australian and Canadian Military Interventions’ by Dr Greg MacCallion at the Australian National University.
