On Monday 9 December 2019, Their Excellencies, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons, New South Wales Rural Fire Service, visited the New South Wales Rural Fire Service State Operations Centre at Homebush, Sydney.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Deane, Commanding Officer, visited the Sydney University Regiment Training Block 4 at Holsworthy Barracks, Sydney.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley returned to Canberra where they hosted a reception for the Royal Military College – Duntroon and Australian Defence College Graduands, at which the Governor-General presented the 202 Spitfire Memorial Defence Fellowship at Government House.
