On Wednesday 29 April 2020, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) spoke with senior representatives of his patronages regarding the impact of COVID-19. This included telephone calls with from Mr Geoff Holmes, Chief Executive Officer, The Boys' Brigade Australia; Mr Mark Fitzpatrick, Board Chair, First Voice; and Detective Superintendent Gavin Dengate SC APM VA, Games Director, Australia and New Zealand Police Games Federation.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley participated in a video conference with Year 9 students from The Anglican School Googong.
