On Monday 12 October 2020, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Government House, Canberra to Adelaide.
On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Anthony Murfett, Deputy Head, met with Australian Space Agency staff and viewed construction of the Australian Space Discovery Centre and Mission Control Centre.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended a lunch at the Udder Delights Cheese Cellar. The lunch was attended by representatives of the Adelaide Hills Council, including Councillor Nathan Daniell, Acting Mayor, and Mr Andrew Aitken, CEO; representatives of the Mount Barker Council, including Councillor Ann Ferguson, Mayor, and Mr Andrew Stuart, CEO; and Ms Sharee Sullivan, Chief Executive, Udder Delights Handmade Cheese.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Alex Zimmerman, Coordinator, Lobethal Bushfire Recovery Centre, met with staff, volunteers and local families involved in bushfire response, relief and recovery operations.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Andy Donoghue, Operations Coordinator, visited the BlazeAid Depot for Lobethal and Springhead, and met with staff and volunteers.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Professor Sandy McFarlane AO, Director, visited the Centre for Traumatic Stress Studies at the University of Adelaide.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley returned to Government House, Canberra.
