Addressing the Governor-General

The Governor-General's official title is Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC. 

Mr Beckett's official title is His Excellency Mr Simeon Beckett SC.

In conversation, you say:

  • Your Excellency (you can also use Governor-General or Ma'am after the first greeting)
  • Your Excellency (you can also use Sir or Mr Beckett after the first greeting).

Attending an event at Government House or Admiralty House


Parking

Parking is often available at Government House for events. Please check your invitation in relation to whether parking is available for your specific event. There is no parking available at Admiralty House.

Disabled access

Government House has wheelchair access and disabled toilet facilities. If you require any form of specific assistance, please let us know via the contact on your invitation.

Security checks

Visitors must have their entree card or invitation with them to enter a Government House event, and a form of photo ID. The invitation is not transferable. Visitors will be subject to security checks on entry.

Social media and media

The Governor-General is active on both Facebook and Instagram. The Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General may capture photographs or videos of your event and publish these to social media.

By attending an event at Government House or Admiralty House, you are consenting to the use of your image, in full or in part, for any Government House purpose, including social media. If you do not wish for your image to be captured, please inform Government House staff.


Depending on the nature of the event, there may be media in attendance. If the media are present your image might be captured and published.
