On Thursday 13 December 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Later, the Governor-General, as the Commander-in-Chief and Reviewing Officer, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the Australian Defence Force Academy Graduation Parade.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General received His Excellency Mr Sumio Kusaka, Ambassador of Japan for a farewell call.

Earlier the Governor-General met students from Ashford Central School, NSW, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
