On Wednesday 24 October 2018, at Government House Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received Letters of Credence from His Excellency El Hacen Eleyatt accrediting him as the Non-Resident Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a welcome home reception for the 2018 Australian Rowing Team, who recently competed in the World Rowing Championships in Bulgaria.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Copacabana Public School, NSW, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
