On Monday 2 July 2018, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Chairman of the France-Australia Business Council, Mr Hervé Guillou, attended a business roundtable with members of Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF) and the European Australian Business Council (EABC), at MEDEF Headquarters, Paris.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General attended a working lunch with Minister Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, the French Secretary of State to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and delivered opening remarks, at the Head Office of HSBC.
Afterwards, the Governor-General, as guests of Mr Masamichi Kono, Deputy Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), visited the OECD Headquarters in Paris to deliver the opening remarks for the OECD/EABC roundtable meeting; meet with Mr Kono and attend an afternoon tea with Australians working at the OECD.
Later, the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Lady Cosgrove, hosted an investiture ceremony for Mr Christophe Lecourtier, the former French Ambassador to Australia, and attended a reception for Australians and Australian organisations in France, at the Ambassador’s Residence.
Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a meeting with His Excellency Edouard Philippe, Prime Minister of the Republic of France, at the Hôtel de Matignon.
