On Sunday 15 April 2018, at Broadwater Parklands, Southport, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Chef de Mission, Australian Commonwealth Games Team, Mr Steve Moneghetti AM, attended the women’s and men’s marathon where they congratulated Mr Kurt Fearnly after he won gold. Their Excellencies watched Ms Lisa Weightman and Ms Jessica Trengove win silver and bronze respectively, and Mr Michael Shelley win gold.

The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also met Mr Kurt Fearnly to congratulate him for winning gold in the men’s T54 marathon.

Afterwards, at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, Broadbeach, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of CEO, Australian Commonwealth Games Association, Mr Craig Phillips, attended the men’s basketball final between Australia and Canada and watched Australia win gold.

Later, at Coomera Indoor Sports Centre, Lady Cosgrove, as guest of Vice President, Australian Commonwealth Games Association, Mr Mike Victor OAM, attended the women’s netball finals between Australia and England and watched Australia win silver.

Then, at Robina Stadium, the Governor-General, as guest of CEO, Australian Commonwealth Games Association, Mr Craig Phillips, attended the women’s rugby final between Australia and New Zealand and watched Australia win silver.

In the evening, at Carrara Stadium, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the 2018 Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony.
