On Thursday 12 April 2018, at Nerang Mountain Bike Trails, Queensland, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of Mr Mike Victor, Vice President, Commonwealth Games Australia, attended the 2018 Commonwealth Games mountain biking finals, at which the Governor-General presented medals at the men’s cross country mountain bike victory ceremony.

In the evening, at Carrara Stadium, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Steve Moneghetti AM, Chef de Mission, Australian Commonwealth Games Team, attended the evening athletics finals session. The Governor-General presented medals at the men’s high jump victory ceremony, including to Australian gold medallist Mr Brandon Starc.

Afterwards, Lady Cosgrove participated in the victory ceremony for the women’s long jump and presented a gift to Australian silver medallist Ms Brooke Stratton.

Earlier, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General met with students from Gosford Public School, NSW, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
