On Friday 6 April 2018, at Broadbeach Bowls Club, Queensland, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of President, Lawn Bowls Australia, Mr Darryl Clout, attended the 2018 Commonwealth Games Round 3 matches of the Men’s Triples between Australia and Botswana and the Women’s Singles Lawn Bowls between Australia and Zambia. Their Excellencies watched Mr Barrie Lester, Mr Nathan Rice and Mr Aron Sherriff, and Ms Karen Murphy win both matches.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Deputy Director-General, Office of Commonwealth Games, Mrs Kerry Petersen, attended the Trade 2018 Value of Sport closing speeches at which the Governor-General delivered the key note address.

Later, at Coolangatta Beachfront, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of President, Volleyball Australia, Mr Craig Carracher, attended the 2018 Commonwealth Games Beach Volleyball Pool A match between Australia and Cyprus, and watched Ms Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Ms Taliqua Clancy win the Women’s preliminary match.

In the evening, at Gold Coast Optus Aquatics Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Vice President, Commonwealth Games Association, Ms Geraldine Brown, attended the 2018 Commonwealth Games Aquatics finals session.
