On Tuesday 3 April 2018, at Commonwealth Games Headquarters, Ashmore, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) as Patron of Commonwealth Games Australia, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Chief Executive Officer, Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC), the Honourable Peter Beattie AC, visited the Games Operations Centre.

Afterwards, at the GOLDOC Uniform and Accreditation Centre, Burleigh Heads, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Chairman, GOLDOC, Mr Mark Peters, met with staff and volunteers at the Uniform and Accreditation Centre at which the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove were presented with their official 2018 Commonwealth Games accreditations.

Later, at Southport Depot, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Commanding Officer, 2nd Combat Engineer Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Haersch, met with Australian Defence Force (ADF) members involved with Operation ATLAS, which is the ADF contribution to the security of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

In the evening, at Commonwealth House, Kurrawa Park, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Premier of Queensland, the Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk MP, attended a Trade 2018 Business Leaders welcome reception.

Earlier, at Brisbane International and Gold Coast International Airport, the Governor-General was represented by Honorary Aide-de-Camp, Commander Mark McConnell ADC RAN for the arrival in Australia of the Governor-General of New Zealand, Her Excellency The Right Honourable Dame Patsy Reddy GNZM QSO DStJ, and the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Major-General Jioji Konousi Konrote OF MC (Retd).
