On Friday 2 February 2018, at Government House, Canberra the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received from His Excellency Mr Michał Kołodziejski, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Piotr Buszta (Counsellor), Mr Rafal Jarosz (Counsellor) and Mrs Ewa Zbytek (First Secretary). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mrs Barbara Kołodziejska.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Eduardo Peña-Haller, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the United Mexican States. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Eduardo Martinez Curiel (Minister), Mr Santiago Ballina Garcίa (Third Secretary) and Mr David Trujillo Solίs (Consul).

Later, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Patricio Powell Osorio, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Chile. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Felipe Orellana (Second Secretary), Mrs Macarena Quezada (Second Secretary) and Captain Rodrigo Penaranda Pedemonte (Defence and Naval Attaché). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mrs Susan Roraff.

Then, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Jaime Bueno-Miranda, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Columbia. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Alvaro Alaya-Melendez (Minister), Ms Maria Mesa-Salinas (Second Secretary) and Ms Ana Velásquez Giraldo (Third Secretary). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mrs Maria Hardmeier Pareja.

Later, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Mohammad Rahman, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Ms Farida Yasmeen (Counsellor) and Mr Md Sayfullah (Counsellor). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mrs Shamsia Begum.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a lunch in honour of newly accredited Heads of Mission. Guests included: His Excellency Mr Jaime Bueno Miranda and Mrs Maria Teresa Hardmeier Pareja; Mr Piotr Buszta; His Excellency Mr Michał Kołodziejski; His Excellency Mr Nabil Lakhal; Mr Eduardo Martiez Curiel; Mr Felipe Orellana; His Excellency Mr Eduardo Peña-Haller; His Excellency Mr Patricio Powell Osorio and Mrs Susan Carol Roraff; His Excellency Mr Mohammad Sufiur Rahman and Mrs Shamsia Begum; Ms Lyndall Sachs PSM; Mrs Maria Carolina Mesa Salinas; Ms Penny Williams; Ms Farida Yasmeen.

In the evening, at Manuka Oval, Canberra, the Governor-General as Patron, as guest of Chief Executive Officer, Cricket ACT, Mr Cameron French, attended the Prime Minister’s XI Dinner.
