For Simon Chan AM, Australia’s diversity and multicultural society is our strength. And throughout his life he has worked to engage with and raise awareness of this significant advantage, particularly in the area of art and culture. 

“We are truly lucky to live in such a diverse and multicultural society. It's been very satisfying and rewarding to raise awareness of our different communities, particularly through the lens of arts and 

culture. I've loved helping to support and bring positive change to the lives of those in the arts, and in the Chinese, Indigenous and multicultural communities.”

Mr Chan is honoured and grateful to be appointed a Member of the Order of Australia. "But I also feel that I need to do more to deserve the award."
