National Police Service medal

The National Police Service Medal recognises the unique contribution and significant commitment of those who have given ethical and diligent service as a sworn member of an Australian police service.

The National Police Service Medal is awarded by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Commissioner of the Australian police force of which the person is, or was last, a member. A minimum of 15 years service is required to be eligible for the medal, although this does not represent a distinct period of service. A member must also have been serving on or after 14 February 1975 to qualify for the National Police Service Medal.

Only approved organisations can recommend someone for the National Police Service Medal. If there are any questions, please contact the Australian Honours and Awards Secretariat.

More information is available on the pmc.gov.au website.
