Alice Lai OAM

Alice Lai OAM has provided extensive voluntary service with Cancer Council Victoria, and committee membership of Chinese Chamber of Commerce Victoria.

On first hearing that she was being considered for recognition in the Order of Australia, Ms Lai says she was extremely honoured to be recognised for something she enjoys doing on a daily basis.

“I consider myself a more fortunate individual and would like to make some contribution to my adoptive home, the Australian community, and help the less fortunate.”

But it is her family that gives her the greatest sense of pride – her husband and two beautiful daughters. “My greatest achievement is being a good mum and wife and role model for my children.”

“Thank you to all the volunteers I have worked with in the Chinese community and at the Cancer Council Victoria. They’re the real Australian heroes … they have unique qualities which make Australia a better place.”
