On Sunday 14 December 2008, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE departed Australia on a State Visit to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
In the morning, the Governor-General received the Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr Michael L'Estrange AO. In the afternoon, the Governor-General received the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Mr Teuku Mohammad Hamzah Thayeb. Earlier, in Woden, Canberra, Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as Patron of the Woden Senior Citizen's Club, officially opened Stage 1 of the Woden Seniors building development.
On Thursday 11 December 2008, at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Campbell, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC attended the 2008 Graduation Parade of Midshipmen and Officer Cadets, and as Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force, reviewed the Parade, presented the Commander-in-Chief's Medal and delivered the address.
On Wednesday 10 December 2008, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC hosted to lunch: the Honourable Emeritus Professor Peter Baume AC and Mrs Jenny Baume; Ms Anne Deveson AO; Dr Robyn Iredale and Professor Tim Turpin; Dr Sheila Mackay; Dr Wendy McCarthy AO; Mrs Irene Moss AO and Mr Allan Moss AO; His Honour Judge Kevin O'Connor AM and Mrs Bernadette O'Connor; the Honourable Susan Ryan AO and Mr Rory Sutton; and Ms Ann Sherry AO and Mr Michael Hogan.
On Tuesday 9 December 2008, at the Royal Military College of Australia, Duntroon, ACT, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the 2008 General Service Officers' Graduation Parade, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force, reviewed the Parade and presented the Sword of Honour and The Queen's Medal, and afterwards presented Commissions and Graduate Certificates to Staff Cadets.
On Monday 8 December 2008, Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the High Commissioner???designate to South Africa, Ms Ann Harrap.
On Friday 5 December 2008, at HMAS CRESWELL, Jervis Bay, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended the Graduation Parade of New Entry Officers Course 39, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force, reviewed the Parade, presented the Royal Australian Naval College Prize and delivered the address.
On Thursday 4 December 2008, at Navy House, Duntroon, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Russ Crane AM CSM RAN attended a ceremony, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, presented the King's Gold Medal to Captain Walter Wright RAN (Retd).
On Wednesday 3 December 2008, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the National Chief Executive Officer of St John Ambulance, Ms Margaret Morton and the Chancellor of St John Ambulance, Dr Neil Conn AO.
