On Thursday 27 November 2008, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received from His Excellency Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Chowdhury, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner for the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Mahbub Saleh (Counsellor), Mr Nazrul Islam (Counsellor), and Mr Mohammed Huq (Counsellor), High Commission of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE also received Mrs Jasmin Masud.

On Wednesday 19 November 2008, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE returned to Australia on completion of a State Visit to the Republic of Singapore.

In the evening, at Geraldton, Western Australia, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a sunset ceremony commemorating the loss of HMAS SYDNEY II, at which the Governor-General delivered an address and, together with Mr Bryce, laid a wreath in honour of those who lost their life.
