On Sunday 20 March 2016, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, visited Innisfail on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of Tropical Cyclone Larry.

In the morning, at the Mother of Good Counsel Church, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Parish Priest, Father Kerry Crowley, attended the Palm Sunday Mass.

Afterwards, at the Innisfail State College, the Governor-General, as guests of the President, Mr Joe Cristaudo, attended the Innisfail District Cricket Association awards ceremony, at which the Governor-General presented junior cricket awards.
