On Saturday 7 November 2015, at Fleet Base East, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) as Commander-in-Chief and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Commander Australian Fleet, Rear Admiral Stuart Mayer CSC and Bar RAN, attended the HMAS Sydney Decommissioning Ceremony and Reception.
On Friday 6 November 2015, at the Australian Federal Police College, Barton, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Commissioner Andrew Colvin APM OAM, attended a Sergeant’s Mess dinner, at which the Governor-General presented awards.
The Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove, attended the 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment Freedom of Entry parade to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the 5th Battalion.
