On Saturday 12 December 2009, at Circular Quay, Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the naming ceremony of the Pacific Jewel at which the Governor-General, as Godmother, officially christened the ship.

Later, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the arrival in Australia of the President of the Republic of Nauru, His Excellency the Honourable Marcus Stephen MP, by Group Captain Guy Burton ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.

On Friday 11 December 2009, at HMAS CERBERUS, Victoria, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the Melbourne Naval Undergraduate Officers' Graduation Parade, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, reviewed the Parade and delivered the address.

In the evening, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a reception for the Australia Africa Business Council.

On Thursday 10 December 2009, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Campbell, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended the 2009 Graduation Parade of Midshipmen and Officer Cadets, at which the Governor-General as Commander-in-Chief reviewed the Parade, presented the Commander-in-Chief's Medal and delivered the address. On Tuesday 1 December 2009, at the University of Newcastle, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC officially opened the 2nd Australian Indigenous Family and Community Strengths Conference.

Afterwards, at the Luncheon Club, Sydney, the Governor-General, in recognition of World AIDS Day and the 25th anniversary of the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, met with individuals directly affected by HIV/AIDS and the organisations that support them.
