On Friday 27 April 2012, at Tottenham Airstrip, New South Wales, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, officially opened the newly refurbished airstrip.

On Thursday 26 April 2012, at Al Minhad Airbase, Dubai, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guest of the Deputy Commander Joint Task Force 633, Air Commodore Christopher Sewade, visited the base and met with Australian Defence Force personnel.
In Dubai, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce visited the Al Minhad base to thank ADF personnel for their work in supporting and enabling Australia's troops in Afghanistan and other Middle East locations.
On Wednesday 25 April 2012, at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, attended an ANZAC Day Dawn Service.
The Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, and Mr Michael Bryce have commemorated Anzac Day with Australian troops at their base in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan.
During her visit to the ADF in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan, the Governor-General travelled outside the compound to meet several hundred students and teachers at the Malilai Girls’ School.
The school has been developed with assistance from the Australian Government.

The Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia joined over 20,000 Canberra residents and visitors for the Anzac Day Dawn Service at the Australian War Memorial.
Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, and the large crowd assembled, paid tribute to the sacrifices made by Australian Defence personnel.

On Tuesday 24 April 2012, at Our Big Kitchen, Bondi, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, joined university chaplains for a charity cook in.
- The Governor-General meets the President of Afghanistan
The Governor-General met the President of Afghanistan, His Excellency Mr Hamid Karzai, at the Presidential Palace in Kabul.
The President thanked Australia for its sustained commitment to Afghanistan, before hosting lunch in honour of the Governor-General.

During her visit to Kabul, the Governor-General attended a roundtable discussion with senior Afghanistan women and representatives of NGOs at the headquarters of the International Security Assistance Force.

- Governor-General undertakes a State Visit to the United Arab Emirates
In Dubai, the Governor-General called on the Ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The Vice President later joined Ms Bryce and Mr Michael Bryce for lunch at the Zabeel Palace. The meeting was part of the Governor-General's State Visit to the UAE.

On Sunday 22 April 2012, at Qasr Al Bahr, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO met with the Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, and Chairperson of the General Women’s Union, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.

As part of her State Visit to the United Arab Emirates, the Governor-General was welcomed with a Guard of Honour, before a meeting with HH Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

On Friday 20 April 2012, at the Brisbane Club, Brisbane, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Chairman, Mr Patrick Mullins, attended a breakfast in support of the Good Samaritans Foundation.

During a brief visit to Brisbane, the Governor-General attended a fund raising breakfast for the Good Samaritan Foundation, which cares for victims of domestic violence, before launching the Centre for Research Excellence in Nursing at Griffith University.

On Thursday 19 April 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
In Brisbane, the Governor-General officially opened the ABC's new headquarters, 6 years after a cancer cluster forced staff from their previous offices in Toowong.
The new building, at Southbank, will house ABC radio and TV, as well as News Online, Landline and Australian Story.
