War Widows’ 21st Field of Remembrance Dedication Ceremony and 2015 Anzac Service; Anzac Centenary 18 Pounder Gun Welcome to Canberra

On Wednesday 15 April 2015, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Prime Minister, the Honourable Tony Abbott MP.

Afterwards, at the War Widow’s Guild of Australia ACT Branch, Lyneham, the Governor-General, as National Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, as ACT Patron, attended the 21st Field of Remembrance Dedication Ceremony and 2015 Anzac Service, at which the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove laid crosses in honour of the Unknown Soldier and on behalf of the War Widow’s Guild of Australia.

Federal Executive Council

On Tuesday 14 April 2015, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, the Governor-General received the Founder of The Asha Foundation, Dr Kiran Martin and longstanding supporter, Ms Elizabeth Peaks.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom, Her Excellency Mrs Menna Rawlings CMG.

Army Cadet Visit; Tour de Legacy Launch

On Monday 13 April 2015, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, met with members of 122 Australian Army Cadet Unit and Ruahine Cadet Unit New Zealand.

Afterwards, at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, the Governor-General, as Patron of the Legacy Club of Canberra, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of President and Chairman, Legacy Adelaide, Legatee Keith Bleechmore, launched the Canberra to Adelaide ‘Tour de Legacy’ ride 2015.

Final Commemorative Service for the Rats of Tobruk Association NSW; Lunch

On Sunday 12 April 2015, at Five Dock, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Mr Joe Madeley OAM, attended the final Commemorative Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony for the Rats of Tobruk Association NSW.

Afterwards, at Club Five Dock RSL, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Club Five Dock RSL, Mr Robert Ridge, attended a lunch in honour of the Rats of Tobruk Association NSW.

City of Gold Coast Visit

On Thursday 9 April 2015, at the City of Gold Coast Council, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, received a briefing on the 2018 Commonwealth Games by the Mayor of the City of Gold Coast, Councillor Tom Tate, Minister for Education and Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games, the Honourable Kate Jones MP and Chairman of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation, Mr Nigel Chamier AM.

‘Shark 02’ 10th Anniversary Service; L'Arche Genesaret Afternoon Tea

On Thursday 2 April 2015, at the Russell Offices Precinct, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Tim Barrett AO CSC RAN, attended a service to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the loss of Sea King Helicopter ‘Shark 02’.

Afterwards, at Government House, Lady Cosgrove, as Patron, and the Governor-General, hosted an afternoon tea for members, supporters and sponsors of L'Arche Genesaret.
